Easy on Queen West: Brunch & Breakfast Burritos






There’s something extremely nostalgic about diners and how they manage to stop time. The most authentic are decades old and pride themselves on unaltered interiors and original menus, while others recreate the nostalgic vibe by design, with neon signs and chrome-trimmed vinyl booths. Either way, the diner is a place to imagine where time has stood still, and all that matters is a plate of comforting, hot food. 


Surrounded by junk shops, Peter Morrison's retro-inspired daytime diner at the corner of Queen and Roncesvalles has been a Parkdale favourite since it opened over fifteen years ago, attracting an arty crowd for its ecclectic mix of Tex Mex morning classics and Euro-centric staples. Known affectionately as "The Easy" for all the Easy Rider posters that line the walls with other 1970's era memorabilia, Easy Restaurant is one of the city’s best-kept secrets — it's diner food done right using the freshest ingredients and all made from scratch. Not to be missed are their deliciously tempting Banana Latte, Mango or Peanut Butter Smoothies or the decadent Mexican Hot Chocolate made with arbol and ancho chili. 

For that Tex Mex flavour, the house specialty Huevos Divorciados features two free range eggs topped with both red and green salsas, cool refried black beans, chunky tomato-spiked guacamole, rosemary-tossed home fries and a toasted baguette with homemade ancho chili jam. The Toast Soldiers with two soft boiled eggs, fruit and toast strips even comes with toy soldiers! Great food, endless cups of Illy brewed coffee and friendly, courteous smiling staff, it's no wonder there's a lineup every morning.
